Four weeks · sixteen hours

A practical journey from idea to first-sale readiness.

The approved progression is preserved. Each session is engineered around practical outputs, facilitator-observable evidence and decisions the participant can carry into the next stage of support.

Week 1 · So you want to become an entrepreneur

Clarify the motivation, idea and mindset.

Participants explain why they want to become entrepreneurs, shape an initial business idea, present it to a partner and examine internal and external factors affecting success.

Participant outputs

  • Business idea description
  • Partner presentation and feedback
  • SWOT analysis
  • PESTEL analysis
  • Two-sentence fixed/growth mindset reflection

Facilitator evidence

Can the participant explain the idea clearly, respond to feedback and distinguish internal factors from the external environment?

Participant outputs

  • Product or service description
  • Need, desire, aspiration, value or social outcome met
  • One to three potential audiences
  • Detailed customer avatar
  • Value proposition and value-ladder ideas

Facilitator evidence

Can the participant move from “everyone” to a specific customer and explain how the offer improves that customer’s life?

Week 2 · What could I sell, and who would buy it?

Define the offer, customer and value.

Participants connect their idea to a specific human need, define a viable audience and create a plain-language value proposition.

Week 3 · Will this work?

Validate the idea with real evidence.

Participants identify the relevant industry and NAICS code, plan a one-week proof-of-concept activity and document both primary and secondary research.

Participant outputs

  • Industry and NAICS code
  • Potential niches or value-ladder opportunities
  • Proof-of-concept plan
  • Five to ten primary contacts and responses
  • Validated secondary sources and learning
  • Documented changes to the business idea

Facilitator evidence

Does the participant use evidence rather than assumption and adapt the idea in response to what was learned?

Week 4 · Financial, legal and commercial readiness

Understand the money, obligations and first sale.

Worked examples are developed for goods and service businesses, with source-checked Alberta and federal content and clear educational-information caveats.
